Details of our HKDSE Music Curriculum

01

Taught by specialists

Our music programme offers classes taught by experienced instructors with advanced degrees in music. Specialists will teach different areas of the Senior Secondary Music curriculum, including general musicianship, theory, composition, and various genres of music. With their help, students will be well-prepared for HKDSE Music Examination.

03

Assessments and Activities

In Hong Kong secondary schools, music education includes regular assignments,  quizzes and exams, with mock exams in Form 6. Instructors provide feedback and suggestions for improvement. Activities such as performance master classes and composition workshops are also offered, along with opportunities to participate in public competitions and concerts. Students are also encouraged to join public competitions and concerts in Hong Kong, for example, Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and New Generation Concert.

Centre Programme

This is a new programme from the 2025-2028 cohort. The institute will co-organise this Centre programme with Hong Kong Music Institute. Students will have classes at Hong Kong Music Institute.

The programme offers training for Paper 2 upon request, and additional private lessons are available for guidance and comments on the performing paper.

04
